Common questions

Before you place your order.

Still not sure? Our team would be happy to answer your questions.

What information do I need to choose the right pump?

The best pump depends on your application and operating conditions. Key factors include the type of water being pumped (clean water, dirty water, sewage or slurry), what the pump is being used for (such as flood control, drainage, dewatering, irrigation or swimming pool circulation), the vertical lift, discharge pipe length, available power supply, and the flow rate required. Our Pump Finder can help you identify suitable options, or our team can assist with product selection if required.

How quickly will my pump arrive?

Order before 14:00 Mon–Fri for next-working-day delivery on 1,200+ in-stock products. Larger items (engine-driven pumps, sump stations) ship on a pallet within 2–3 working days.

What if I order the wrong pump?

We want you to buy with confidence. If something isn't right, you have a full 14 days after delivery to start a return, and we'll make the process as simple as possible.

Can you help me choose before I buy?

Yes. Call 0115 987 0358 between 9:00 and 17:00 Monday to Friday and our team will be happy to help. You can also use our Pump Finder to narrow down the most appropriate options based on your requirements.

For site-specific advice, such as assessing drainage layouts, pipe runs, inflow rates, pump sizing calculations, or designing a complete pumping solution, we can refer you to our sister company, an engineering consultancy team for a tailored assessment.

What warranty comes with each pump?

Manufacturer warranties are product-specific and vary by brand and model, with some pumps benefiting from warranty periods of up to 3 years. Full warranty details can be found on the relevant product page and on our Warranty Information page.

For more information, please visit: Warranty Information Page.

What's the difference between a manual and an automatic pump?

Manual pumps require you to turn them on and off, and shouldn't be left unattended. Once the water clears they'll overheat. Automatic pumps use a float switch or sensor to start and stop themselves as water rises and falls, so they suit unattended use.
