Open the spray gun and system pressure falls, so the pump starts automatically (cut-in around 2.4 bar). Close the gun and, once flow stops, the pump shuts down after a short delay. A built-in non-return valve holds pressure between uses, and dry-run and thermal protection guard the pump if the water runs low or the motor overheats.
