Speroni 304 Stainless Steel SXS Sewage Pump
Submersible stainless steel drainage pump for sewage and septic tank work with fibrous waste.
The SXS is a submersible Sewage Pump built entirely in 304 stainless steel by Speroni Pumps, designed for pumping waste that contains fibrous material and suspended soft solids. The combination of a wide pump casing, a vortex impeller, and a 50mm free passage means the pump can handle sewage and waste that would clog a standard drainage pump.
Stainless steel construction matters in this application because sewage is mildly corrosive. Cast iron drainage pumps do the same physical job but corrode over time in sewage service. A 304 stainless body holds up for longer in the same conditions.
Speroni SXS: Built for Aggressive Waste
The SXS uses 304 stainless steel throughout the wetted components, combined with NBR (nitrile butadiene rubber) seals.
NBR is a synthetic rubber chosen specifically for its resistance to oils, fuels, and chemicals. In sewage and industrial waste, this matters because the water often carries traces of detergents, oils, and aggressive organic matter that would break down standard rubber seals within months.
Where the Speroni SXS is Used
- Septic tank emptying and transfer.
- Sewage pumping from domestic and commercial installations.
- Construction site drainage where the water carries debris and fine solids.
- Industrial and processing drainage where the waste stream contains fibrous or soft solid material.
- Light commercial sewage pumping where grinder cutters are not needed.
- Any drainage application where the water has suspended organic or fibrous content.
Installation-Friendly Design
- Horizontal outlet for clean pipe runs.
- Female BSP threaded outlet for standard plumbing fittings.
- Removable stand so the pump can sit stable in a chamber or be repositioned.
- Large free passage (50mm) to pass most soft solids without jamming.
Choosing Between the Two Sizes
The SXS1000-VA is the 0.75kW version on 230V single-phase, with 350 l/min flow at 9m head. It is the usual specification for individual domestic septic tank work and light sewage pumping. This version is automatic with a pendant float switch. The pump switches on automatically when the water level rises and off when it drops, which is essential for any unattended installation.
The SXS 2000-T-V steps up to 1.5kW on 400V three-phase, with 550 l/min flow at 12.5m head, for larger installations and commercial drainage. The SXS 2000 does not have an integrated float switch, so automatic operation requires an external float switch or level controller wired into the supply.
Free Passage: What That Means
Free passage is the largest solid particle the pump can handle without jamming. With a free passage of 50mm, the SXS can pass through material up to about 2 inches in diameter. That is enough for most sewage and soft-solid waste. Where the waste stream includes larger solids or shreddable fibres, a grinder pump like the Speroni Cutty is the better answer.
Not for Ponds or Water Features
The SXS is a specialist sewage and drainage pump. It is not suitable for ponds, water features, or clean water circulation.
The vortex impeller and 50mm free passage are optimised for waste, not for clean water delivery, so using the SXS on a clean water application is inefficient and noisy compared to a purpose-built pond pump.
