WHY IT WORKS

Built for the job

5” Borehole Pump with 2” Outlet for Maximum Flow

Highest Flow Option in the Well and Borehole Pump Range

The Acuabig is a 5 inch submersible borehole pump designed to move large volumes of water quickly, making it the highest flow option in the range. Manufactured by Umbra Pompe.

With a 2” outlet and flow rates up to a maximum of 195 litres per minute, it is suited to irrigation, agricultural and transfer applications where volume is the priority.

Acuabig usage

The Acuabig is suited to:

  • 5” boreholes
  • Irrigation systems
  • Agricultural water supply
  • Water transfer and storage systems
  • Industrial and processing applications

It is the right choice where you need to move more water, more quickly, rather than generate maximum pressure.

Why choose the Acuabig

  • Largest outlet in the range (2”) for high flow systems
  • Highest flow rates across the borehole pump range
  • Designed for volume-driven applications
  • Available as manual or automatic (float switch)
  • 230V single phase supply

How it operates

The Acuabig is available in two versions:

  • Manual version – runs continuously when powered
  • Automatic version – fitted with a pendant float switch for level-based operation

The float switch requires space to operate:

  • Not suitable for narrow boreholes
  • More suited to tanks, wells or larger chambers

On manual models, flow can be controlled by including a pressure controller in the delivery line.

Acuabig build and design

The Acuabig is a multi-stage pump designed to maximise flow efficiency.

  • Stainless steel body and strainer
  • Multi-stage impellers
  • Oil-cooled motor
  • Non toxic oil
  • Integral starting capacitor

Performance overview

Performance depends on the model selected.

  • Flow up to approx. 195 litres per minute
  • Moderate to high head depending on model
  • Maximum submersion depth: 17 metres
  • Operating temperature: 0°C to 35°C

Flow rate is consistent across the range, with all models delivering up to approximately 195 litres per minute.

The key difference between models is the head (pressure capability):

  • Acuabig 2-200 – up to 27 metres head
  • Acuabig 3-200 – up to 43 metres head
  • Acuabig 4-200 – up to 57 metres head

Head is effectively a measure of pressure.

As a guide, 10 metres of head is roughly equal to 1 bar.

Higher head models are used where water needs to be pushed further or lifted to greater heights.

Installation

Installed within a 5” borehole, tank or chamber depending on setup.

Requires a larger borehole than the 4” pumps.

The Acuabig has a 2” outlet (Female BSP).

It can be connected using a 2” (50mm) male BSP hose tail, making it well suited to:

  • High pressure delivery hose
  • Irrigation systems
  • Water transfer setups

The pump is suitable for clean water and can handle water containing up to 60 g/m³ of suspended solids.

Important notes

  • Designed for clean water, including rainwater and stored water
  • Can handle small suspended solids (up to 60 g/m³)
  • Not suitable for sewage or heavy abrasive material
  • Float switch version requires space to operate
