WHY IT WORKS

Built for the job

EGO 500 SELS Automatic Puddle Pump – Pumps Down to 1mm

The EGO 500 SE LS is the premium fully automatic model in the EGO 500 range, designed for installations where the pump needs to draw water down to almost nothing without anyone there to operate it. The traditional mechanical float of the GI is replaced by adjustable electronic sensors, giving you complete control over when the pump starts and stops. Built in Italy by Simaco.

Adjustable Electronic Sensor Control

Factory Settings

The EGO 500 SELS is set up from the factory to:

  • Turn on at 125mm
  • Turn off at 40mm

The on level is adjustable down to 15mm, and off level to a few mm. Note: the pump runs for a short while after the water level has dropped below the off level, enabling low level pumping down to a mm. However, to help prevent it running dry, the off level should be set no lower than 3–5mm.

The pump also runs on briefly after the water drops below the set stop level, which means in practice you can draw water down to approximately 1mm in fully automatic operation.

Important: A Note on Free Passage

The SE LS uses Simaco's flat-base low-suction body to achieve 1mm pumping levels. This means the suction shroud sits tight against the floor and physically restricts what can enter the pump to around 1mm. The pump's internal hydraulics will pass anything smaller without issue, including fine sediment and dust, but larger debris such as leaves, grit or gravel will be blocked at the inlet rather than damaging the pump. For applications involving debris-laden water, choose the EGO 500 GI with its raised-leg base and 9mm solids handling.

Construction and Build Quality

The SE LS shares the same proven core engineering as every EGO 500: a 0.47 kW single-phase motor with integrated thermal protection, 304 stainless steel motor casing and shaft, PPS thermoplastic pump body and impeller, and a triple hydraulic shaft seal for long service life. Suitable for continuous duty up to 35°C.

Applications

  • Permanent installation in basements, lift shafts and pump pits
  • Properties on flood plains needing unattended automatic flood defence
  • Tight pump pits where a mechanical float lacks room to swing freely
  • Facilities management and rental property installations
  • Any application requiring low-level automatic pumping of clean water

The EGO 500 SE LS is designed for domestic and light industrial drainage. It is not recommended for use in ponds or water features.

Specifications

  • Motor power: 0.47 kW
  • Voltage: 230V single-phase, 3-pin domestic plug
  • Maximum flow: 170 litres per minute
  • Maximum head: 7.5 metres
  • Solids passage: 1mm at the inlet
  • Cable: 10m H07RN-F heavy duty rubber
  • Outlet: 25mm (1 inch)
  • Weight: 4.0 kg
  • 1-year warranty

What's in the Box?

  • 1 x EGO500 SELS Automatic Puddle Pump
  • 1 x Non-Return Valve
  • 1 x 10m Heavy duty rubber power cable
  • 1 x Hose tail

You may wish to add an elbow hose tail, as when pumping across land rather than vertically it can help reduce kinking in the discharge hose. Please note that the elbow is not compatible with a non-return valve, as the NRV requires a male BSP fitting, while elbows are only available with female BSP threads.

How to Attach a Hose to a Water Pump

Floodandwaterpumps.co.uk has been specially designed to simplify the types of pumps into categories to make choosing the best pump for your requirements easy.

We are often asked how to attach the hose to a pump, and have created this 'how-to' video to demonstrate. The pump and accessories listed are all available at floodandwaterpumps.co.uk

What are the Different Types of Float Switches?

Each type of float switch has its advantages and is best suited for specific scenarios. The choice of float switch depends on factors such as the type of liquid, space constraints, required accuracy, and the pump's intended application.

Learn How to Read a Pump Curve in Minutes

With many pump specifications, you will often see a graph, with a curve or a series of curves depending on additional models, these are called pump curves. The pump curve describes the relationship between the flow rate, and the head of the pump.

The head shows how high pumps can pump vertically, with horizontal pumping, we normally use the rule of 10 metres distance will equate to 1 metre in vertical pumping. Always aim to use a pump towards the centre of the curve, as this is the optimal way to use a pump. Using a pump on either edge of the curve will put a lot of stress on the pump, which could cause it to wear out sooner.
