Umbra Pompe Acuasub 4" Deep Well Pump – High Pressure
Built for the job
4" Borehole Pump for Higher Pressure and Deeper Installations
Step Up from Entry-Level Borehole Pumps
The Acuasub is a 4 inch submersible borehole pump designed for high pressure systems and deep installations.
It sits above simpler pumps such as the Eurojet, and is typically used where more head, more control and a more robust setup is required.
Where this pump is typically used
The Acuasub is suited to:
- 4" boreholes
- Deeper wells where higher pressure is needed
- Domestic and agricultural water systems
- Irrigation, spraying and processing applications
It is the right choice when a basic borehole pump is not sufficient, and is typically selected where higher pressure or greater flexibility across different system requirements is needed. Compared with larger 5" borehole pumps such as the Acuabig, the Acuasub is designed for narrower boreholes where higher pressure is still required.
Why choose the Acuasub
- High pressure capability for deep installations
- Designed for demanding systems
- Supplied with external starter and protection
- 230V supply
How it operates
All pumps in the Acuasub range are manual. They run when powered and can be controlled using a pressure switch or controller in the delivery line, depending on the system setup. This makes them suited to fixed installations, rather than temporary or drop-in use.
Installation
Installed within a 4" borehole and connected to a control system. Flow is typically managed using a pressure switch in the delivery line.
Build and design
The Acuasub is a multi-stage pump designed to deliver high pressure from deeper boreholes.
- Stainless steel body and strainer
- Multi-stage impellers for pressure
- Oil-cooled motor for durability
- Non toxic oil
- Supplied with an external inline starter and thermal protection box
The pump is designed for clean water but can handle water containing up to 60 g/m³ of suspended solids. An optional 80 micron stainless steel sand filter is available to help prevent damage from abrasive particles.
The Acuasub has a 1¼" outlet (32mm). It can be connected using a 32mm male BSP hose tail (see hose tails and connectors), allowing use with:
- High pressure delivery hose
Performance overview
Performance depends on the model selected. Flow rates range from 45 litres/min to 90 litres/min, with head height ranging from 70m to 140m.
- High head, pressure-focused pump
- Maximum submersion depth: 17 metres
- Operating temperature: 0°C to 35°C
Important notes
- Designed for clean water, including rainwater and stored water
- Can handle small suspended solids (up to 60 g/m³)
- Not suitable for sewage or heavy abrasive material
- Requires external control equipment
Sinking a new borehole? Note that drilling beyond 15 metres must be notified to the British Geological Survey, and you may need an abstraction licence.
