Construction and Durability
The SQ2-2 is built with a combination of 304 and 316 stainless steel and engineering resin throughout the wetted components. The outer cover is 316 stainless steel, offering greater corrosion resistance than standard 304, while the lower pump casing and shaft are 304 stainless steel and the strainer is 304 stainless steel. The impeller and oil casing are polyphenylene, a high-performance engineering polymer with excellent chemical and thermal resistance. The shaft seal is silicon carbide, one of the hardest sealing materials available and highly resistant to abrasion and chemical attack. Critically, the lubrication oil is liquid paraffin, a food-safe mineral oil that makes the SQ2-2 suitable for food processing and aquaculture environments where standard petroleum-based oils would be unacceptable. The top discharge, flow-through design ensures the pumped water continuously cools the motor during operation, allowing the pump to run reliably at low water levels and for short periods in dry conditions without motor damage.
