Speroni WX(M)-A Single Stage Centrifugal Pump
Built for the job
Stainless steel open-impeller pump for food processing, washdown, and light chemical handling.
The WX(M)-A by Speroni Pumps is a stainless steel open-impeller centrifugal Surface Pump built for food processing, cleaning applications, and light chemical handling. It combines three features that matter in these sectors: stainless construction throughout the wetted components, an open impeller design that will not clog on residual suspended solids, and hard-faced silicon mechanical seals that resist aggressive fluids.
The WX-A and WXM-A are Specialised Pumps
- If you do not need the food-grade or chemical-resistant capability, a standard Speroni CF(M) will do similar flow at lower cost.
- The WX(M)-A is the correct pump when you genuinely need the stainless construction and aggressive-fluid handling.
Where the Speroni WX(M) Pumps are Used
- Food processing washdown lines.
- Dairy and beverage production transfer.
- Industrial washing and cleaning.
- Light chemical handling.
- 25% glycol solution circulation.
- Process water transfer with fine suspended solids.
- Agricultural processing.
Choosing Between the Pump Models
These are high-flow, moderate-head pumps. If you need significant pressure, this is not the right range.
Motor power increases across the range to give more flow and slightly higher head. The larger models are 400V only.
- WX: the pump family prefix (open-impeller stainless centrifugal)
- M: 230V single-phase (same as elsewhere in Speroni's range). No M means 400V three-phase.
- 300 or 500: indicates frame or body size.
- /1.1, /1.5, /2.2, /3: motor power in kW after the slash.
Inlet and Outlet Sizes
- WX 300-A models: 2" inlet, 2" outlet
- WX 500-A models: 2½" inlet, 2" outlet
The outlet stays at 2" across the whole range.
The 500-frame models have a larger 2½" inlet to match their higher flow rates. When more water is drawn in, a wider inlet keeps the suction flow smooth. Too narrow an inlet on a high-flow pump causes cavitation (small bubbles forming and collapsing on the impeller, which damages it fast). The outlet stays at 2" across all models so the pump drops into standard 2" pipework on the discharge side.
Open Impeller: What That Means
Open impellers have exposed vanes rather than being enclosed between two discs. This lets small suspended solids pass through without jamming the pump. The trade-off is slightly lower efficiency than a closed-impeller design, but for applications where the fluid carries fine solids (washing, food processing), an open impeller is essential.
N.B: This pump is not WRAS accredited.
