WHY IT WORKS

Built for the job

APP RS40EA Higher-Flow Automatic Puddle Pump | 200 l/min for Faster Water Drainage

The APP RS40EA is the higher-performance pump in APP's automatic puddle range, built for jobs that need more flow and a bit more solids handling without losing the compact form factor. Moving 200 litres per minute up to an 8.5m head, with a larger 7mm free passage, it clears water faster and copes with dirtier, grittier water than the compact RS32EA. A durable thermoplastic body and miniature float switch keep it suited to confined sumps and channels, while it still draws down to a low 20mm. Supplied with a 10m cable, 3-pin 230V plug and a 2-year warranty, it's the dependable choice when speed and capacity matter.

What is the RS40EA pump used for?

•    Faster dewatering of larger volumes after flooding or heavy ingress
•    Clearing dirtier, grittier water thanks to the larger 7mm free passage
•    Construction, trade and commercial drainage where higher flow is needed
•    Emptying deeper or larger sumps, lift shafts and storage chambers quickly
•    Heavier-duty groundwater and flood-recovery work in compact spaces

Construction and Durability

The RS40EA is manufactured by APP from hard-wearing thermoplastic, giving it a tough, corrosion-resistant body that withstands sustained, demanding use on site and in commercial settings. Its 168 x 170 x 322mm chamber protects the float mechanism from obstructions, while the larger 7mm free passage lets the pump handle grittier, dirtier water with far less risk of blockage than smaller pumps. An integrated anti-airlock NRV (non-return valve) device ensures consistent starting under heavier duty cycles, and the supplied 10m heavy-duty rubber cable gives generous reach. Every RS40EA carries APP's 2-year warranty.

Why choose the RS40EA?

Choose the RS40EA when you need to move more water, faster, and handle dirtier conditions than the compact RS32EA allows. Its 200 l/min flow, 8.5m head and 7mm free passage make short work of larger volumes and grittier water, while it still fits compact sumps and draws down to 20mm. For contractors, facilities managers and engineers tackling construction dewatering, deeper chambers or heavier flood recovery, it's the higher-capacity workhorse of the range, competitively priced, fully automatic, and backed by fast UK dispatch and a 2-year warranty.

Working in a tighter space or only need clean, low-level water control? The compact APP RS32EA is slimmer, draws down to 25mm and is the more affordable choice.

What are the Different Types of Float Switches?

Each type of float switch has its advantages and is best suited for specific scenarios. The choice of float switch depends on factors such as the type of liquid, space constraints, required accuracy, and the pump's intended application.

Which Hose Should I use with my Water Pump?

Layflat hose is very affordable but can kink. Depending on your use, you may be better using a reinforced suction delivery hose for your needs.

Suction delivery hose is ideal for pumping up stairs or over obstacles.

Jonathan Martin explains the differences to help you choose which hose is best for your scenario.

Learn How to Read a Pump Curve in Minutes

With many pump specifications, you will often see a graph, with a curve or a series of curves depending on additional models, these are called pump curves. The pump curve describes the relationship between the flow rate, and the head of the pump.

The head shows how high pumps can pump vertically, with horizontal pumping, we normally use the rule of 10 metres distance will equate to 1 metre in vertical pumping. Always aim to use a pump towards the centre of the curve, as this is the optimal way to use a pump. Using a pump on either edge of the curve will put a lot of stress on the pump, which could cause it to wear out sooner.
