Non-Return Valve & Hose Tail Kit – 25mm (1″ BSP)

Stop pumped water flowing back down your discharge hose. This kit pairs a 1″ BSP non-return valve with a matching 25 mm hose tail, giving your 25mm outlet Puddle Pump a one-way outlet that holds the water column in the hose once it has been pumped.

Ideal for use with the Stream SPP2 Puddle Pump.

Why fit a non-return valve to a puddle pump?

Puddle pumps are designed to work in very shallow water. When the water level drops to the last few millimetres, the pump naturally begins to draw in air. Without a non-return valve, any water still sitting in the discharge hose can then flow back through the pump and return to the area you have just cleared, which can look like the pump has stopped working, when in fact it is behaving exactly as expected in those conditions.

This is not a pump fault; it is simply how any open discharge line behaves at very low water levels, particularly with longer hose runs or where water is lifted over a height. Premium low-level pumps such as the Stream SPK530 and Tsurumi LSC1.4S build a non-return valve into their design for exactly this reason. This kit adds the same protection to your puddle pump.

How it works

The non-return valve screws directly onto the pump outlet and acts as a one-way gate: water passes freely on the way out, but the valve closes the moment flow stops or reverses. The water already pumped stays in the hose instead of draining back, so you keep the ground you have gained and the pump re-primes faster when the water level rises again. The 25 mm hose tail threads onto the valve, ready for a standard 25 mm (1″) discharge hose secured with a hose clip.

Fitting note

Screw the non-return valve onto the pump outlet, fit the hose tail to the valve, then push on your 25 mm discharge hose and secure with a hose clip. Keep hose runs as short and direct as practical – very long runs or high lifts increase the volume of water the valve has to hold.
