Pentair Swimmey VSe 1HP Variable Speed Pool Pump: Quiet, Efficient, Lower Running Costs

The Pentair Swimmey VSe 1HP is a variable speed swimming pool pump built to cut your running costs while keeping your water clear. Instead of running flat out like an old single speed pump, it lets you set the right speed for each job, so it filters quietly at a low speed for everyday use and ramps up only when you need it. With three programmable speeds, a built-in timer, a simple LCD display and a Quick Clean function, it puts efficient, automated filtration within easy reach. It also has built-in dry-run and over-current protection, is salt resistant up to 0.4 percent, and comes with 50mm unions for a straightforward fit to standard pipework.

Key features at a glance

Variable speed motor with a 600 to 3000 RPM range for efficient, quiet filtration

Three programmable speeds with a built-in time-of-day timer

Quick Clean function for fast, high-flow tasks like backwashing and vacuuming

Simple LCD display showing speed (RPM), power (Watts) and time

      Built-in dry-run detection and over-current protection

Salt resistant up to 0.4 percent (4 g/l)

50mm unions included, with reducers to 1.5 inch

3 digital inputs and RS-485 for pool automation systems

What is the Pentair Swimmey VSe 1HP pump used for?

Energy efficient daily filtration and circulation for permanent in-ground pools

Running quietly at low speed for long filtration periods, where most of the energy savings are made

Higher speed bursts for backwashing, vacuuming or faster turnover using the Quick Clean function

Replacing an older single speed pump to reduce electricity use and noise

Salt chlorinated pools, as it is salt resistant up to 0.4 percent (4 g/l)

Pools controlled by an automation system, via the digital inputs or RS-485 connection

Construction and durability

The Swimmey VSe is built around an induction, totally enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC) motor designed for quiet, reliable running, paired with a drive that controls speed by varying the supply frequency and protects the motor from operating outside safe limits. Running at lower speeds for much of the time means less heat, less vibration and less wear, which helps extend the life of the pump. A clear strainer pot lid lets you check the large basket at a glance, and the drive includes dry-run detection and over-current protection to guard against damage from loss of prime or blockages. The housing is salt resistant up to 0.4 percent, and the wiring compartment is sealed against dust and moisture, making it well suited to a typical poolside plant room.

Why choose the Pentair Swimmey VSe 1HP?

Choose the Swimmey VSe when you want to lower your pool's energy bills and noise without sacrificing reliability. Because a pool only needs a fraction of full flow to filter properly, running this pump at a low, steady speed for longer uses far less electricity than a single speed pump running at full power, and it does so much more quietly. The three programmable speeds plus timer let you automate filtration around your day, while Quick Clean gives you a quick high-flow boost when you need it. It is simple to set up through the on-board display, fits standard 50mm pipework with the supplied unions, and can be linked to a pool automation system later if you wish. For most owners it pays back its cost through lower running bills over the life of the pump.

How to Choose the Correct Swimming Pool Pump:

It is important that the flow rate of the pump is correctly matched to the quantity of water in the pool to ensure the water is circulated effectively. Swimming pool experts rule of thumb is to circulate all the water within an 8-hour period. Normally you may consider replacing a pump like for like, however if it has failed prematurely it may have been the incorrect pump for the system, so we recommend following our
