Umbra Pompe Acuatec 5" Borehole Pump – Balanced Pressure & Flow
Built for the job
5" Borehole Pump for Balanced Pressure and Flow
The All-Round Balanced Option for Most Borehole Installations
The Acuatec is a 5 inch borehole pump designed to provide a balance of pressure and flow, making it the most versatile option in the Umbra Pompe range.
It is typically used for irrigation, agricultural and general water supply where both pressure and flow are required, rather than prioritising one over the other. If you need maximum volume instead, see the higher-flow Acuabig; for maximum pressure from a deeper, narrower borehole, see the Acuasub.
Where the Acuatec is used
The Acuatec is suited to:
- 5" boreholes
- Irrigation systems
- Agricultural water supply
- General water transfer and supply
- Industrial and processing applications
It is the right choice for most installations where requirements are mixed.
Why choose the Acuatec
- Balanced performance between pressure and flow
- More versatile than high-pressure or high-flow specific pumps
- Available as manual or automatic (float switch)
- Suitable for regular use in irrigation and water supply applications
- 230V single phase supply
How it operates
The Acuatec is available in two versions:
- Manual version runs continuously when powered
- Automatic version uses a pendant float switch to operate based on water level
The float switch requires space to move freely, so:
- It is generally not suitable for narrow boreholes
- It is more suited to tanks, wells or larger chambers
On manual models, flow can be controlled by including a pressure controller in the delivery line.
Build and design
The Acuatec is a multi-stage pump designed for both pressure and flow.
- Stainless steel body and strainer
- Multi-stage impellers
- Oil-cooled motor
- Non toxic oil
- Integral starting capacitor
The pump is suitable for clean water and can handle water containing up to 60 g/m³ of suspended solids.
Performance overview
Performance depends on the model selected.
- Flow up to approx. 90 to 135 litres per minute depending on model
- Head varies depending on model selection
- Maximum submersion depth: 17 metres
- Operating temperature: 0°C to 35°C
Installation
Installed within a 5" borehole, tank or chamber depending on the system. The Acuatec has a 1¼" outlet (32mm BSPF).
It can be connected using a 32mm male BSP hose tail (see hose tails and connectors), suitable for:
- High pressure delivery hose
- Irrigation systems
- General water supply setups
Important notes
- Designed for clean water, including rainwater and stored water
- Can handle small suspended solids (up to 60 g/m³)
- Not suitable for sewage or heavy abrasive material
- Automatic float switch version requires space to operate
- Planning to draw from a borehole or watercourse? Check whether you need an abstraction licence first.
Drinking Water and WRAS
Umbra Pompe describes these pumps as suitable for potable water, although they are not WRAS approved. WRAS approval is generally intended for products connected to the public mains supply and is not normally required for a private borehole.
For drinking-water use, the complete system should be suitable and the water tested where appropriate.
