Flood & Water Pumps is part of FPS Group, which celebrates its 14th birthday this week. We started in 2012 as Flood Protection Solutions Ltd, with the aim of making flood resilience products easier to get hold of in the UK.
Since then we have supplied pumps to homeowners, contractors, farms, councils and utility companies. Here is how we got here, and what more than 20,000 customers have taught us about choosing the right pump.

What 20,000+ customers have taught us about choosing a pump

The most common question we get is "which pump do I need?" These are the points that make the biggest difference:
- Match the pump to the water. Clean water, dirty water and sewage need different pumps. A clean water pump will block quickly on silt or debris.
- Look at head and flow, not just power. Head is how high the pump can lift water. Flow is how much it moves. Both need to suit your job.
- Use a puddle pump for the last few millimetres. Standard submersible pumps leave water behind. Low-level pumps clear floors much closer to dry.
- Think about power cuts. Flooding and power cuts often happen together. An engine-driven pump is a useful backup.
- Get the hose right. A hose that is too narrow or too long will cut performance.
Why an established pump specialist matters
Buying a pump is only part of the job. You may need advice on accessories, troubleshooting or other resilience measures. A supplier that has been around for 14 years will still be here when you need them.
We work with leading brands including Tsurumi, EVAK, APP, Speroni and Umbra Pompe. For more complex jobs, our Engineering Review Service and our sister consultancy, FPS Environmental, can help with pump station and drainage design.
Looking after the environment
Our Epperstone warehouse runs on solar panels, and we are working towards Net Zero by 2030 across our buildings, fleet and waste.
Conclusion
Fourteen years on, our aim is the same as it was in 2012: help people deal with water quickly and safely, with the right pump for the job.
