Common questions

Frequently asked questions.

Which pump station for a basement toilet?

A packaged foul station rated to pass sewage solids, such as the FPS Iguazu Foul range. See packaged pump stations.

What is the difference between a sump pump and a packaged station?

A sump pump is a single pump dropped into an existing chamber; a packaged station is a complete chamber, pump and pipework supplied as one unit. See sump pumps.

What size sewage pump passes 50mm solids?

Choose a pump with a stated solids passage of at least 50mm, such as a larger EVAK Hippo. The solids rating is on each product page. See sewage pumps.

Which pump for a Type C basement system?

An automatic pump that reliably removes the groundwater a cavity drainage system channels to the sump, such as the EVAK Residox, or a packaged FPS Iguazu 635. See basement waterproofing pumps and our Type C explainer.

Do foul pumps need to meet Building Regs?

Foul drainage work falls under Building Regulations, with Approved Document H the relevant guidance. Choose a sewage-rated pump and size the chamber for the demand. Read our Building Regulations explainer.

Can I pump into an existing chamber?

Yes, with a sump pump sized to the chamber and the discharge run. See sump pumps.
