A pump discharge hose carries water away from the outlet of your water pump to its discharge point. Whether you are emptying a flooded basement, draining a swimming pool, dewatering a building site, or running an irrigation line, the discharge hose is what gets the water from the pump to where you need it. We stock three discharge hose ranges to suit every pressure, budget and application: cost-effective layflat for everyday flood and dewatering work, double-layered high pressure delivery hose for irrigation and drinking water, and lightweight budget discharge hose for aquatic and very light duty use. Next working day UK delivery on orders placed before 4pm.
For a sump pump, flood pump or basement pump: Layflat hose is the standard choice. It is cheap, lightweight, easy to store on a reel, and quick to deploy. Almost every flood response van and hire fleet in the UK carries layflat as the default discharge hose.
For irrigation, drinking water, or any high pressure duty: High pressure delivery hose is the right choice. It is double layered yellow PVC, kink resistant, UV stable, abrasion resistant, and certified food and drinking water safe.
For aquariums, ponds, water features, or very light duty work: Budget discharge hose handles the job at the lowest cost. Spiral-helix reinforced thin PVC, supplied in 30 metre coils.
For pumping uphill, around corners, out of basements, or for buried installations: Discharge hose is not the right fit. You need suction and delivery hose instead, which has a nylon spiral-helix that resists kinking and crushing.
The deeper read: what's in this range, how to pick, and when to talk to us before you buy.
Match the hose internal diameter to your pump's discharge outlet thread. A pump with a 2" BSP outlet needs a 2" (50mm) discharge hose.
Then check working pressure. Divide your pump's maximum head (in metres) by 10 to get the equivalent pressure in bar. The hose working pressure must comfortably exceed this figure with margin to spare.
A pump discharge hose is the hose that connects to the outlet of a water pump and carries the pumped water to its delivery point. Discharge is the technical term for "the water leaving the pump".
Layflat, and budget discharge hoses are not suitable for burial. For a permanent underground discharge run from a sump pump or packaged pump station, use suction and delivery hose, which has nylon spiral-helix reinforcement and a service life that can exceed 10-20 years buried.
Match the hose internal diameter to your pump's outlet thread size. A 1" outlet pump takes 1" (25mm) discharge hose, a 2" outlet takes 2" (50/51mm), and so on. Going smaller restricts flow.
