Garden Watering Pump Kit for Spray Guns | DAB Divertron 900
Built for the job
Garden watering pump kit for spray guns, wells and rainwater tanks
Turn a well, rainwater tank, cistern or storage tank into a powerful, automatic garden watering supply.
This FPS Engineered™ kit pairs the DAB Divertron 900 automatic submersible pump with your choice of 25 m or 30 m of 19 mm diameter hose and a genuine Hozelock Quick Connect outlet.
Drop the pump into a clean water source and click on any compatible spray gun: open the gun and the pump starts on its own, close it and the pump switches off after a short delay. There is no separate pressure switch, controller or manual on/off to operate.
Spray gun not included, so you can choose the Hozelock-compatible model that suits you.
At a glance
- Fully automatic: starts when the spray gun opens, stops when it closes.
- Strong performance: up to 100 litres per minute and 45 m maximum head.
- Large-bore 19 mm hose: far less friction loss than standard 12.5 mm garden hose.
- Genuine Hozelock outlet: clicks onto any compatible spray gun, nozzle or lance.
- Complete kit: pump, hose, brass hose tails, stainless-steel clips and Hozelock adaptor.

Fully automatic watering
The Divertron 900 has an integrated pressure switch and flow sensor. Open the spray gun and system pressure falls, so the pump starts automatically (cut-in around 2.4 bar). Close the gun and, once flow stops, the pump shuts down after a short delay. A built-in non-return valve holds pressure between uses, and dry-run and thermal protection guard the pump if the water runs low or the motor overheats. In short, it gives the convenience of an outside tap without a separate controller, pressure vessel or manual switching.
How the kit connects
A 1 inch BSP male tiered hose tail (1" and 3/4") screws into the Divertron's outlet, and the 19 mm hose slides over it, secured with a stainless-steel clip.
At the far end, a second 19 mm hose tail carries a ¾ inch BSP female thread, into which the genuine Hozelock 2170 adaptor screws to give a female Hozelock Quick Connect fitting. Your compatible spray gun then clicks straight in.
The adaptor is rated to 10 bar, comfortably above the pump's maximum of about 4.5 bar.
Why 19 mm hose?
Standard garden hose is usually only 12.5 mm bore. That is fine on a mains tap, but a long narrow run would throttle a powerful pump like the Divertron 900.
The supplied 19 mm hose has more than twice the waterway area, so it passes far more water and loses much less pressure over the full 25 or 30 m run, giving stronger spray-gun performance.
That said, the pump has plenty in reserve. Thanks to its wide operating range (16.7 to 90 litres per minute), you can extend your reach by connecting standard 12.5 mm garden hose to the Hozelock outlet if you need to. On flat ground you can add up to around 25 m of 12.5 mm hose and still get roughly 28 litres per minute at the open end, within the pump's operating range. Narrow hose adds friction quickly, so keep any 12.5 mm section as short as your reach allows.
Expected performance
Estimated flow with the hose end fully open and no spray gun fitted:
| Hose run (19 mm) | Uphill lift | Est. flow | Remaining head |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25 m | 2 m | 67 L/min | 19.9 m |
| 25 m | 5 m | 64 L/min | 18.5 m |
| 30 m | 2 m | 63 L/min | 17.8 m |
| 30 m | 5 m | 61 L/min | 16.6 m |
Estimated with the hose open and no spray gun fitted, using the published Divertron 900 curve and Hazen-Williams friction. Remaining head is the pump's maximum head (45 m) minus the uphill lift minus the friction loss at that flow, roughly 10 m of head per bar. Actual performance varies with hose length, elevation, fittings and the spray gun.
With the gun closed, static pressure at the hose end rises to about 4.2 bar at 2 m of lift and 3.9 bar at 5 m. Maximum flow and maximum pressure do not happen together: with the hose open, flow is highest and pressure at the outlet is near zero; with the gun closed, flow is zero and pressure rises until the pump switches off. Normal spraying sits between the two, drawing on the remaining head shown above.
Using a spray gun
A spray gun works by restricting the flow, and that restriction is what builds the pressure at the nozzle that gives spray reach and pattern. In doing so it reduces the flow rate below the open-hose figures above: pressure and flow trade off, so the tighter the spray setting, the higher the pressure and the lower the flow. What you get depends on the gun's bore, its flow setting, how far the trigger is opened and the spray pattern, and because spray-gun makers rarely publish full flow curves, an exact rate cannot be guaranteed for every gun.
For comparison, a typical UK outside tap gives roughly 10 to 15 litres per minute at 1 to 3 bar.
This kit delivers around 61 to 67 litres per minute through an unrestricted hose, at up to about 4.2 bar static, so it is a strong supply for hand watering. It suits hand-held spray guns, trigger nozzles, watering lances, jet, rose and filling attachments, and suitable washdown guns.
Not for oscillating sprinklers (as a plug-and-play kit)
Best used with a hand-operated spray gun or lance.
A sprinkler's low or fluctuating demand can make the Divertron's flow sensor think watering has stopped, so the pump cycles on and off, which can exceed its permitted starts per hour. The Divertron 900 can run a properly designed sprinkler or irrigation system, but the required flow, pressure and layout must be checked separately first.
Choose your hose
30 m braided hose: The practical choice for everyday domestic garden watering. Lighter and more flexible, it is easier to handle, coil and route around borders, paths and obstacles, while providing an extra 5 metres of reach with only a modest reduction in estimated flow.
25 m high-pressure hose: The tougher, harder-wearing option for frequent use, commercial applications and grounds maintenance. Its heavy-duty construction offers greater resistance to pressure, abrasion and general wear, while the shorter run provides a slightly higher estimated flow.
Why the DAB Divertron 900?
The Divertron 900 brings the convenience of a domestic pressure system to a fully submersible pump. It sits quietly inside the well or tank and responds whenever the spray gun is opened, with no surface pump, external controller or pressure switch to install. Its multi-stage hydraulics deliver the pressure needed for spraying while keeping good flow through the large-bore hose. It is built from corrosion-resistant technopolymer with stainless-steel internals, with an IP68 motor, thermal and dry-run protection and an integrated non-return valve.

Installation and water quality
- Install in clean water, fully submerged with at least 50 mm of water above the pump for cooling.
- In a well, sit it at least 1 m above the bottom to avoid drawing in sand or silt.
- Support the pump properly and never suspend or lift it by its electrical cable.
- Allow clearance around the 160 mm pump body.
Clean water only. Water containing sand, silt or abrasive material can damage the pump and invalidate the warranty. This kit is not for sewage, dirty or salt water, pond circulation or water features.
Frequently asked questions
Does the pump start automatically when I open the spray gun?
Yes. The Divertron 900 has an integrated pressure switch and flow sensor. Opening the gun drops the pressure and starts the pump; closing it stops the pump after a short delay. There is nothing to switch on and off.
Is a spray gun included?
No. The kit finishes in a genuine Hozelock Quick Connect fitting, so you can add any compatible spray gun, nozzle or lance you prefer.
Can I use my own 12.5 mm garden hose instead?
We do not recommend it. Narrow garden hose sharply increases friction and would waste much of the pump's flow. The supplied 19 mm hose is what makes the kit perform.
