Stream SPK530 Heavy-Duty Puddle Sucker Pump – Removes Water Down to 1mm
The Stream SPK530 is a heavy-duty puddle sucker pump designed for removing floodwater and low-level standing water from floors, roofs, basements, garages and construction sites.
Unlike a conventional submersible pump, which normally leaves several centimetres of water behind, the SPK530 can pump water down to approximately 1mm under suitable conditions. It delivers a maximum flow rate of up to 170 litres per minute and is available in either 110V or 230V.
Manufactured by Stream Pumps, the SPK530 is supplied with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty.

What is the Stream SPK530 used for?
The SPK530 is suitable for residential, commercial, industrial and hire-fleet applications, including:
- Removing water from flooded buildings
- Pumping water from garages and commercial units
- Emptying basements and cellars
- Draining flat roofs
- Removing water from construction sites
- Clearing water from storage areas
- Responding to leaks and emergency water ingress
- Emptying unoccupied hot tubs*
- Indoor and outdoor drainage
The pump is suitable for clean and slightly dirty water, including typical floodwater. It is not suitable for raw sewage or water containing large solids.
*Only use the pump to empty an unoccupied hot tub. Allow the water to cool before pumping and flush the pump thoroughly with clean water afterwards.
What is the best pump for removing shallow floodwater?
The Stream SPK530 is one of the strongest options for removing shallow floodwater because it combines a high maximum flow rate with the ability to pump down to approximately 1mm.
This makes it particularly useful where a conventional submersible pump would stop working while a significant layer of water remained. Typical applications include garages, basements, commercial floors, flat roofs and other level surfaces.
Actual residual water depth will depend on the flatness and condition of the surface, the presence of debris and how evenly water can reach the pump inlet.
How low can the Stream SPK530 pump water?
The SPK530 can reduce standing water to approximately 1mm under suitable operating conditions. Its specially designed bottom plate allows it to continue drawing water at a much lower level than a conventional drainage pump.
For the best results, position the pump on a reasonably flat surface and remove any debris that could obstruct the inlet or prevent water from flowing towards the pump.
Is the Stream SPK530 an automatic pump?
No. The SPK530 is a manual electric pump. This means it starts when the electrical power is switched on and stops when the power is switched off.
It does not rely on a conventional external float switch, which allows it to operate in much shallower water. The pump should therefore be monitored and switched off when pumping is complete.
Can the Stream SPK530 be fully submerged?
Yes. Although the SPK530 is designed to remove very shallow water, it can also be fully submerged to a maximum depth of 5 metres.
This allows the same pump to be used for both deeper floodwater and the final removal of low-level residual water.
How much water can the SPK530 pump?
The Stream SPK530 delivers a maximum flow rate of up to 170 litres per minute and has a maximum head of 11 metres.
Maximum flow and maximum head occur at different points on the pump curve. The actual flow achieved will depend on the vertical pumping height, hose length, hose diameter, bends, fittings and other resistance within the discharge arrangement.
For a more accurate estimate, refer to the pump performance graph and select the expected flow at the required operating head.
Can the SPK530 pump water upstairs or over a wall?
The SPK530 has a maximum head of 11 metres, so it can pump water vertically or route it over walls, steps and other obstacles, provided the total resistance remains within the pump’s operating capability.
Long hoses, narrow outlets, bends and vertical lift will reduce the flow rate. A kink-resistant hose is therefore recommended where the discharge route is long or uneven.
Which hose should I use with the Stream SPK530?
The most popular hose used with the SPK530 is the 25mm suction and delivery hose. Its reinforced construction helps it resist kinking when routed over walls, around corners or up steps.
25mm layflat hose is another option. It is lightweight, economical and easy to store, although it is more likely to kink or flatten where the route changes direction.
The pump is supplied with a 25mm hose tail. A suitable hose clip, commonly known as a Jubilee clip, is normally all that is required to secure the hose.
Can the outlet point horizontally or vertically?
Yes. The SPK530 has an adjustable discharge connector that can be positioned horizontally or vertically.
To adjust the outlet, remove the two silver bolts, rotate the discharge plate to the required position and refit the bolts. Selecting the most suitable outlet direction can reduce hose kinking and improve the achievable flow rate.
Should I choose the 110V or 230V SPK530?
Choose the 230V model for use with a standard domestic or commercial electrical supply.
The 110V model is generally selected for construction sites and other professional environments where a 110V centre-tapped transformer supply is required for site safety.
Always confirm that the available electrical supply is compatible with the selected pump before use.
