Best value for smaller domestic pools: Plastica iFlo
The Plastica iFlo is our pick when budget matters and the pool is on the smaller side. It is British built, simple, and reliable, with a heavy-duty air-cooled motor and a large strainer basket. For a standard domestic pool on a straightforward circulation loop, it does everything you need without paying for capacity you will not use. A sensible first pump and an easy like-for-like replacement.
Quietest, and best for above-ground and ornamental pools: Plastica AG
The Plastica AG runs at around 55 decibels, the quietest pump we sell, which matters when the pump sits near a patio or seating area. It is built to handle saltwater as well as chlorine, so it suits salt-chlorinated systems and ornamental ponds as well as above-ground pools.
Best for large and commercial pools: Plastica Argonaut AV

Best for high-head systems: Speroni SWIMM
If your system has long pipe runs, a heat pump or a sand filter, total head climbs, and that is where many pumps fall off their working curve. It delivers up to around 367 litres per minute against up to roughly 22.5 metres of head, and is available in both 230V single-phase and 400V three-phase for larger sites. Self-priming for above-ground pools: Pentair Freeflo
For an above-ground pool, or any setup where the pump sits at or above the water and has to draw water up to prime itself, the Pentair Freeflo is a straightforward, dependable self-priming choice. It covers roughly 150 to 258 litres per minute at up to about 17 metres of head on a standard 230V supply.
Best for saltwater pools: ESPA Repospool
Saltwater systems still produce chlorine, so the pump sees a salt-rich, mildly chlorinated solution that corrodes pumps not built for it. Start with flow and head. Size the flow to turn your pool over once every eight hours, calculated at your system's real head, then pick the smallest pump that comfortably meets both.
