Before you replace a pond pump, ask one question: how long did the old one last?
The answer tells you whether to replace like for like, or to start again and specify properly, because a pump that failed quickly was usually the wrong pump in the first place.
If it lasted well
A good pond pump running continuously should give you years of service. If yours did, a like-for-like replacement is sensible. Brand may matter less than you might think; what matters is matching the specification, the flow rate and head, of the old pump so the fountain or waterfall performs the same. If it failed early, start afresh
If the pump did not last, do not just buy the same thing again.
A short life usually means it was either not a continuous-duty pond pump, or it was wrongly sized.

Why a 24/7 pump should sit mid-curve
Because pond pumps run around the clock, where the pump sits on its performance curve really matters for how long the next one lasts. Specify it so its normal duty point falls in the middle third of its curve. That is where the pump is most efficient and where the stresses on its motor, seals and bearings are lowest.

The middle third is like cruising on the motorway in the right gear: relaxed, economical, and happy to run for hours.
The left of the curve, high pressure and low flow, is like towing a caravan uphill in a 1.0 litre car, everything straining.
The right of the curve, high flow and low head, is like driving in first gear at max revs, spinning furiously and wearing out fast.
