Part E Cam Adaptor with Hose Tail, the male half that clicks into a Part C
The Part E is the plug side of a cam coupling pair. It clamps permanently onto the end of a hose, and pushes straight into the socket of a Part C or a Part D, where two flip-down arms lock it in place. Connect and disconnect by hand, with no threads to cross and no spanner needed. Available in 25mm, 50mm, 75mm and 100mm to suit standard suction, delivery and layflat hose.
What does the Part E actually do?
Cam couplings, often called camlocks, connect by hand rather than by thread. Each connection needs two halves: a female socket carrying the two hinged arms, and a grooved male spigot that fits inside it. The Part E is that male spigot, with a barbed hose tail on the back of it.
Because the arms and the sealing gasket both live in the female half, the Part E is the simpler of the two. There is nothing on it to wear out and nothing to adjust. It is the part most people fit to an extension hose, so that a new length can be clicked onto a run that is already terminated in a Part C.
Which cam fitting do I need, A, C, D or E?
The lettering is the part that trips most people up. The letter tells you two things at once: whether the cam side is male or female, and what sits on the other end, either a hose tail or a BSP thread. These are the four we stock, and between them they cover almost every pump and hose arrangement.

The C and E are the natural pair. To join hose to hose, put a Part C on one length and a Part E on the other, and the two click together:
If you are working back from a threaded pump outlet instead, the Part E pairs with a Part D. The Part D screws onto the pump and presents a female socket, and your hose, terminated in a Part E, clicks into it. The alternative arrangement uses a Part A on the pump with a Part C on the hose. Both work. The useful discipline is to pick one and keep to it across every hose you own, so that any hose fits any pump.
What is it used for?
- Terminating an extension hose, so extra length can be clicked onto an existing run
- Adding more layflat hose to a discharge line without building a new joint
- Running rigid suction and delivery hose into layflat on the delivery side
- Daisy chaining several lengths, where each length carries a Part E at the inlet and a Part C at the outlet
- Hire fleets and pump kits, where hoses need to be interchangeable between jobs
- Site pumping where the pump is repositioned repeatedly through a shift
- Tanker and IBC transfer
Which size do I need?
Size the adaptor to the internal bore of the hose, not to the pump outlet. A 50mm Part E clamps onto 50mm (2 inch) hose. The four sizes are 25mm (1 inch), 50mm (2 inch), 75mm (3 inch) and 100mm (4 inch).
Fitting
- Push the tail fully into the hose so that every barb sits inside the bore. Warm water on the hose end helps on a tight fit.
- Always clamp it. The hose tail is not self retaining. Use a hose clip on the smaller sizes, or a hose clamp on 75mm and 100mm, positioned over the barbed section.
- Keep the spigot clean. The gasket in the female half seals against the smooth face of this adaptor, so grit or a burr on that face is the usual cause of a weeping cam joint.

Both arms down, every time. A single arm will feel as though it is holding. Under flow it will not.
What it is not for
Think of the Part E as a fitting you expect to undo. Camlocks are designed for connections that get made and broken repeatedly, and that is precisely what rules them out of anything permanent. Avoid them on pipework that will be buried, boxed in or plastered over, on pressurised mains plumbing, and on any joint that nobody will inspect again for months at a time. Sizes cannot be mixed either, so a Part E will not step a hose up or down for you. And because there is no thread anywhere on this fitting, it cannot go directly onto a pump. The threaded half of that connection has to be a Part A or a Part F, whichever suits your outlet.
