The Evak Hippo 50 Sewage Pump is a heavy-duty, submersible sewage pump engineered for robust performance in foul-water and flood-water applications. With a generous solids-handling ability (50 mm), automatic variants (110 V or 230 V) and manual 400 V (3 phase) option, it gives you flexible power options to match site conditions.

Constructed with cast iron housing, advanced motor/casing materials, and double mechanical seals, the Hippo 50 is built for demanding conditions. Rated for liquids up to 40 °C and equipped with thermal and overload protection, it is suited for tough environments, whether basement sumps or sewage.

If you need a reliable pump for a standard sewage sump, basement drainage or general foul-water application that offers solid performance without over-spec’ing, the Hippo 50 is a strong, cost-effective choice.

The flow rate is 330 litres/minute with a 7m head.

If you need greater flow capacity or a higher head, the larger Evak Hippo 100 Sewage Pump (11m Head Lift) is a suitable upgrade.

Key Features & Benefits of the Evak Hippo 50 Sewage Pump

50mm solids handling – ideal for most domestic sewage systems

A 50mm free passage is exactly what’s required for the majority of UK foul water setups. It comfortably handles common solids found in domestic waste without needing the complexity of cutter or grinder pumps, making it efficient and cost-effective. The pumps feature recessed vortex impellers.

Horizontal or Vertical Discharge Options

Horizontal discharge is ideal for guide-rail installations.

 Balanced Power for Typical Installations

Sewage pumps are designed to run steadily rather than switching on and off in rapid cycles, so it’s important not to over specify. Choosing a pump that operates comfortably in the middle of its performance curve gives better reliability and longevity. The Hippo 50 provides a well-balanced level of power for installations where the head height and discharge distance aren’t excessive, making it an ideal choice for typical domestic and light-commercial sewage sumps.

This model offers excellent value for money. You get a pump that handles the needs of most household sewage applications without jumping to more expensive commercial-grade cutter/grinder units that many customers don’t require.

Heavy-duty submersible for dirty water and sewage

Built specifically to handle foul water and sewage applications.

Available in 110 V Auto, 230 V Auto or 400 V Manual versions

You get flexibility to match your power supply and control requirements. The 110 V and 230 V models are automatic (float switch); the 400 V version is manual,  giving you control where required.

Robust construction for demanding conditions

  • Cast iron pump housing
  • Stainless or alloy motor/seal casing
  • Double mechanical seals
  • Thermal and overload protection included
These features ensure durability in tough environments.

Safe operating depth & temperature range

With a 10m submersible rating and a 40°C max liquid temperature, it is perfectly suited for typical domestic sewage temperatures and chamber depths, offering reliable operation.

Simple installation & maintenance

Its straightforward design makes installation easier for installers, and maintenance is uncomplicated thanks to accessible components. This helps reduce long-term servicing costs.

The pump can also be bought as part of a sump and pump kit, as shown here: FPS Iguazu Sump Foul.

Which Hose Should I use with my Water Pump?

Layflat hose is very affordable but can kink. Depending on your use, you may be better using a reinforced suction delivery hose for your needs.

Suction delivery hose is ideal for pumping up stairs or over obstacles.

Jonathan Martin explains the differences to help you choose which hose is best for your scenario.

Who We Are

Who We Are

Flood Protection Solutions Ltd launched floodandwaterpumps.co.uk to make quality water pumps and expert advice easily accessible online. We have a large stock of water pumps which are available with next day delivery. Browse our shop to see the range of water pumps and flood pumps available. Whether you require pumps for flood water, draining construction sites or even for a water feature we have selected the best pumps available.

For a number of years, industry quality pumps were only accessible to trade customers, and domestic users were  left with generally poor-quality water pumps which often failed when used in anger. We have combined high-quality, reliable domestic and industrial pumps into one website which makes the best products available to all.

Flood Protection Solutions Ltd was founded in 2012, and has been supplying flood barriers, water pumps and consultancy services for the past 12 years. As part of our consultancy work, we extensively travel the UK, visiting homeowners, businesses and agencies to advise on flood protection schemes. We realised that too many people had previously purchased either the wrong type of water pump, or a poor quality one which did not perform the task well, and would not be reliable in service. Water pumps can be very important, and therefore you need the right type of pump and it need to be hard wearing.
